EggonNews is a community newspaper that was first published in April 1999. The name derives from the name of the community, the Eggon people of Nasarawa State in North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria. Its establishment is essentially in fulfillment of the abiding belief in the generation of ideas as a necessary ingredient for development, progress, and happiness of society. EggonNews, in generating necessary ideas for development, also strives to fulfill the following:

• Develop and sustain the culture of reading, satisfy the yearning for information and newspapering in the community;
• Encourage interaction, advocate for and promote the spirit of unity, peace, and understanding amongst Eggon people irrespective of status, sex or political leaning;

Portray and celebrate the rich, unique and beautiful cultural heritage of Eggon people to the world.
